Two people died while 15 others sustained injuries on Wednesday as the anti-government protests spilled over into a boundary conflict between Kisumu and Kericho counties.
Kericho County Commissioner Michael Lesimam confirmed the incident expressing confidence of containing the chaos from escalating.
“We are monitoring the situation today…we are expecting that it will not be as bad as yesterday but we have enough police officers there and we will back them if need be,” said Lesimam.
Residents Appeal
Sondu market traders have blamed area politicians for not being honest in quelling down the war tone in the area. They say the border clash has affected their businesses with many now staying off market.
“We are calling upon our political leaders not to incite the residents Sondu is a place and a home for many and if there are issues let the government wedge in and do proper demarcation on the boundaries so that we can put this matter to rest.” Daniel Tanui Trader at Sondu said.
