Two police officers have denied a criminal charge of being involved in robbery with violence.
The duo James Olando and Marshall Adawo were arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi we they denied three counts of robbery with violence.
The accused were ordered to deposit a cash bail of Ksh. 200,000 and one contact person or alternatively provide a bond of Ksh 500,000 and one surety of a similar amount.
The accused according to the prosecution are said to have committed the offence in Kisumu in the year 2020.
The court heard that on 11th July 2020 they jointly robbery Jared Ominde of Ksh. 50,000 and immediately threatened to kill him.

Out Of court Settlement
However before plea was taken the defense lawyer made an application seeking to have the plea deferred for a week to enable negotiate with complainant in view to have the matter settled out of court.
The trial magistrate in his brief ruling dismissed the application saying that the accused should have carried out the negotiation since the incident happened two years ago.
” The issue of alternative dispute resolution is not something the court my consider now when deterring the plea,because the offence is alleged to have been committed in two years ago,the parties should have engaged to settle the matter,” Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochoi said while dismissing that application “
The court directed their case be mentioned on 2nd June 2023 for pretrial.
