Two suspected Robbers arrested along Southern Bypass
Detectives on Wednesday apprehended two suspected gang members on Tuesday along the Southern bypass.
The two, Caroline Wanjiku Maina and Keith Njoroge are allegedly part of a notorious gang that has been robbing motorists along the Southern bypass in Kikuyu.
The gang who doctored a vehicles registration plates allegedly pretend to be stranded along the road only to rob unsuspecting motorists who stop to offer help.
“Detectives swung into action and immediately intercepted the said vehicle with ALTERED registration number KCW 675E,” read a statement from the DCI
According to the DCI, the motor vehicle’s original Registration number is KCV 675F.
The vehicle has been detained as investigations continue and the suspects remain in lawful custody.
The suspects were arrested after a section of Kenyans took to social media platform twitter to raise alarm over the said syndicate.
“Members cautioned to be wary of this vehicle. Occupants pretend to be stranded, then rob people. Last spotted on Southern bypass. Please note the number plate is modified from V to W using tape,” one Joseph Wangto wrote on Twitter
