Two suspected thugs were on Monday night shot dead by police in Nairobi’s Muthaiga Estate.
Police say that the suspects who included a woman aged 28 years were shot dead after they were caught planning a robbery in the area.
Starehe Sub County Police Commander Julius Kiragu says that immediately after they spotted the police, the suspects attempted to escape in their car.
“They then opened fire and started shooting at our officers. The officers immediately returned the fire and fatally injured two who were seated on the front seat,” said Kiragu.
The third suspect who was seated at the back of vehicle however escaped with gun shot wounds.
“During the shoot out, the third suspect opened the back seat and escaped. He however had a gunshot injury because when he alighted from the vehicle the officers tried to trace the blood with no success,” he said.
Kiragu has appealed to the public and medics in hospitals to alert the police if anyone shows up in their hospitals or estates seeking treatment for gun shot wound.
“I appeal to medical facilities, that anybody seeking treatment for gun shot wound it is import that you inform us. Even in the estates, in any case you spot anybody seeking treatment, please inform us,” he said.
Police recovered a gun, seven bullets, 11 master keys, 150 duplicated keys, a 21 inch Samsung TV, a DVD machine and two remote controls.
