Two robbery with violence suspects who have been reigning terror on residents of Meru County were last night gunned down by DCI detectives.

The suspects were gunned down after a fierce gun battle battle with the detectives who have been trailing them.

DCI says that the two have been captured severally on CCTV footages engaging in active violent crime.

In one CCTV footage shared by the DCI, the suspects are seen breaking the grills of an Mpesa shop and stealing from the shop.

“Manhunt for the criminals was launched by a select team of #DCI SSU, CR&IB and Meru-based detectives following a public outcry mainly Mpesa operators, with the team maintaining a sharp lookout for the suspects who have been using motorbikes with concealed registration numbers,” said the DCI.

The two suspects had opened fire after police officers signaled  their motorcycle whose number plates had been concealed to stop.

“The confrontation ensued after the team spotted a suspicious motorcycle with concealed number plates at Makutano area in Meru, where on challenging the rider to stop the two pillion passengers alighted and opened fire with the SMG, disobeying orders to surrender,” said the DCI.

A Patchet submachine gun that the thugs have allegedly been using was recovered.
