Two suspects who allegedly defrauded Bata Shoe Company of shoes worth Ksh.20 million shillings have been arrested.
According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two suspects were arrested by detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit in a shop in Keroka, Nyamira County on Sunday.
“Following the loss of goods worth over Ksh. 20 Million by Bata Shoe Company through fake e-gift vouchers by fraudsters presented to several Bata shops within Nairobi, two suspects have today been arrested by @DCI_Kenya Serious Crime detectives at Keroka, Nyamira County.” Read the tweet
The duo is alleged to be among a group of fraudsters who presented fake e-gift vouchers to several Bata shops within Nairobi hence illegally obtaining the goods.
Assorted Bata shoes worth over Ksh.7 million were also recovered from the said shop even as investigations continue for more arrests and recoveries.
