UDA Aspirant Physically Assaulted, Bundled Into A Car Boot

A female political aspirant from Kasarani Constituency was on Thursday assaulted and bundled into a boot of a car by goons allegedly associated with her political rivals.

Mary Murugi who is vying for the Mwiki Ward seat in Kasarani constituency claims that she was attacked by goons allegedly hired by her rival Donna Anampiu.

“Donna’s husband assaulted me, her brother man handled me. The driver and another man then dragged me and put me inside the boot of the car,” said Murugi.

Murugi claims she was saved by her supporters who sounded the alarm and pulled her out of the boot.

“Were it not for my supporters, I would have probably been taken to Karura forest and ended up being killed,” she said.

Murugi claims that she was attacked for allegedly revealing claims and attempts of vote rigging by her rival.

“They took my rival and put her in a room. They then pushed me out of the room and that’s when I raised an alarm,” she stated.

According to her, it is not only her rival who assaulted her, but her the police as well.

“They gave us a lot of beatings. They even lobbed teargas on us after the physical assault,” said Murugi.

Meanwhile ballot boxes arrive at the Mwiki Polling Station in Matatus, a situation that drew curiosity among the residents over attempted vote rigging.
