- UDA replaces Nairobi Assembly Leadership.

UDA party has effected changes in leadership at the Nairobi County Assembly firing Minority Leader Antony Kiragu and Minority Chief Whip Mark Mugambi alias Roro.Kiragu has been replaced by South B MCA Waithera Chege.Nominated MCA Joyce Muthoni has been picked to replace Mugambi alias Roro.
“The Party is in receipt of the minutes and resolutions of Minority Members of Nairobi County Assembly following a meeting held on 17th October at the members Longue Cityhall Building.In the said meeting it was resolved that the Minority Leader and Minority Whip be removed for reasons contained in the referenced minutes..in accordance with standing order No. 21 of Nairobi County Assembly The Party appoints the following leaders;
1.Hon Waithera Chege -Minority Leader-MCA Nairobi South Ward.
2.Hon. Deonysias Mwangi- Deputy Minority Leader-Githurai Ward.
3.Hon Joyce Muthoni Minority Whip -Nominated MCA.
4.Hon. Samora Mwaura-Deputy Minority Whip-MCA Clay City Ward.” The to the speaker reads in part.
Meanwhile Waithera has thanked the UDA party promising to serve all equitably.
“This is a new dawn for the UDA party in the Assembly. I am so much delighted by this opportunity to serve.
I also thank my colleagues in the Minority Party in the Assembly for believing in in me.It is also a new high for women leadership in Kenya. Truly, going by the list from the Party, UDA and the Kenya Kwanza leadership believe in women empowerment.I promise not to let down our members. I will work with everyone including those who have just been replaced. I believe in unity of purpose. We must restore confidence in the leadership of the party in the Assembly.” Waithera said in a statement.
Assembly speaker is now expected to communicate changes in the floor of the House untill then Kiragu and Mugambi will be in office.
