Kenya’s outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta, has finally congratulated his deputy and now President-elect William Ruto following his victory in the just concluded General Elections.
Uhuru in his final address at State House today further wished Ruto all the best as he takes the mantle to lead the country.
“My entire family and I join all Kenyans in wishing our very best to our next President, Dr. William Ruto, and in extending to him our warmest congratulations for receiving the mandate of Kenyans to lead us as our Fifth President,” said Uhuru.
This is the first time Uhuru is congratulating Ruto after winning the elections.
Uhuru further reiterated that he will attend the inauguration tomorrow to fulfill his constitutional mandate.
“Tomorrow, I will hand over the mantle to my successor Dr. William Samoei Ruto and I am profoundly grateful for the honour and privilege that you bestowed upon me to serve as the 4th President of Kenya,” said Uhuru.
Uhuru spoke shortly after hosting William Ruto and his wife First Lady Rachel Ruto at State House.
Ruto in a previous interview had stated that he had not talked to Uhuru for several weeks.
