President Uhuru Kenyatta had to stop for a few minutes while giving his tribute to former Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli in Dodoma Tanzania.
This was after a mosque situated near Jamhuri Stadium where the funeral mass was being conducted called for a prayer session.
For about five minutes, Uhuru paused his speech then later resumed to which the crowed clapped and cheered for him.
Tanzania is currently being led by a female Muslim Samia Suluhu Hassan who was sworn in after Magufuli’s death.
President Kenyatta, who is also the current Chairperson of the East African Community (EAC), was accompanied by EAC and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary.
Uhuru was among the several African leaders who joined Tanzanians in paying tribute to Magufuli.
“He showed that Africans can liberate themselves from economic dependence,” said Uhuru.
