The Jubilee Party purge has taken another twist in Nairobi with pro ex-governor Mike Sonko MCAs who defied parties’ directives to impeach him now becoming major targets.
Yesterday Waithaka MCA Anthony Kiragu the perceived Sonko’s ‘spokesman’ at the assembly who led troops to Ukunda was de-whipped from House Business Committee, a powerful committee that runs the assembly business days after being ousted as chairman planning committee.
According to Kiragu he is being punished because of his staunch stand with the former city boss during and after the impeachment.
“Minimum committees a member should have is three currently I have been removed from committees on a weekly basis. I had four initially but I now have one..but what they don’t know is that we are prepared…they are purging on those who supported Sonko during the impeachment and when the governor had problems,” Kiragu said.
Majority whip Paul Kados dismissed Kiragu’s protest saying there were better party mechanisms to deal with the same.
‘‘I want to correct him that parties are given prerogative of giving directions in this house. Is he implying that those who have been selected by the party are inexperienced?’’ Kados asked.
