Umeme FC is prepared to take on Githurai All Stars in a friendly peace match slated for Sunday 11th at the Umeme Sports Grounds in Ziwani, Kariokor.
The organizers of the event say that it will be fit enough to channel off political tension from the just concluded general elections through the football match whose theme is ‘Form ni Peace.
Despite the lack of sponsors for the event, the Umeme FC coach says that they are well prepared to face their opponents and hopes that all the arrangements will go on as scheduled to facilitate the success of the game.
“More training sessions are underway and from today’s practice session I feel that the boys are ready to face Githurai All Stars,” says Ramadhan Maloba an organizer of the event.
Joining Umeme FC at their training session this afternoon was the Harambee Starlets midfielder, Corazone Aquino who currently plays for the Tanzanian football team Simba Queens under a two year contract.
“The game has been set to advocate for peace and it is my hope that it will be a calm and fair match according to the title it has been assigned. I have been traing with Umeme even before I left for Tanzania and I have come to give them support,” says Corazone.
The two teams previously had a pre-election peace tournament with the Umeme team taking the win with scores of 1-0.
