University Students Leaders Demands Senator Linturi Be Investigated Over his Academic Qualifications
Kenya Universities Students organization demands the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the Meru Senator’ Mithika Linturi alleged fake academic papers.
According to KUSO, the senator produced fake papers from the claimed Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University which he attended in India.
KUSO Chairperson, Anthony Mayara asked the investigative arms to swing into action for the betterment of Meru people.
He also asked them to ensure that he is not cleared as a gubernatorial candidate in the coming August poll.
“We demand that the DCI and EACC to urgently and with immediate effects, for the sake of not only Kenyans Ameru people, pronounce their position on the forgery cases surrounding Mr Linturi’ credentials and saves the county the big expense of legal battles that will arise should such a person in complete disregard to all legal requirements, proceed to be cleared as a candidate in the forthcoming elections,” said Manyara.
Manyara also claimed that Linturi is unfit to run for the gubernatorial seat as he is not a degree holder.
“If Mr Linturi presents a degree by Court Order, hi party must understand that comrades are barometers of wisdom and decanted knowledge and will not hesitate to exhaust legal options. It is also a matter of public knowledge that his form four grade is also in doubt. The DCI initiates fresh investigations as to whether Mr. Linturi attened primary school and what were the grades he scored. Therefore the UDA should be well informed that Mr Linturi is not eligible to vie for Meru Governor or any other position apart from MCA,” he added.
On Wednesday, Meru activist Michael Makarina asked the Senate and the Public Service Commission to order Senator Linturi to refund the money he earned by allegedly disguising to be a university graduate.
“An order does issue directing that Linturi does pay from his pocket all the amounts received in terms of salary in the event it is established that the academic credentials presented warranting his election as a Senator,” says activist Makarina.
Currently, Linturi is vying for Meru gubernatorial seat under the United Democratic Alliance.
