Uproar As Pastor Rents Out Part Of Kangemi Primary, Disrupts Learning

Mountain View Ward residents have now petitioned the Ministry of Education and Nairobi County Assembly demanding answers to why a church has been allocated part of Kangemi Primary School, contrary to government directives on public utilities management.

According to the petition in our possession the residents claim that the activities of the church which operates during weekdays as well, has disrupted learning in the school.

The angry residents are demanding a quick intervention from the Ministry of Education and Nairobi County Government and that those involved in the illegality are arrested and charged.

“That whereas the management of Kangemi Primary School through the head teacher of the said school have unilaterally allocated/leased part of the school compound to a church owned by one pastor Allan Jomba, which church now engage in activities including political engagements that disrupt learning within the school,” the petition reads.

“Now therefore your humble petitioners Pray for ; The Ministry of Education and the The Nairobi City County Government inquire into and establish under what circumstances did the Head Teacher of Kangemi Primary School allocate/lease part of the school to one pastor Allan Jomba to operate a church in the school compound. The Ministry of Education and Nairobi County Government cause the eviction of Pastor Allan Jombas’ Church from Kangemi Primary School,” It reads in part.

Those on the spot in the petition include, the pastor and owner of the church Allan Jomba, Headteacher Kangemi Primary School Kennedy Kiioo, Director Education Westlands Rosa Kamau among other officials.

The petitioners have also claimed that Pastor Jomba has been holding political activities within the school especially over the weekends.

“The Ministry of Education and Nairobi City County Government engages relevant state agencies such as the DCI and the DPP and prosecute all persons involved in the illegal allocation /leasing of part of Kangemi Primary School compound to Pastor Allan Jomba.” It continues.

Jomba’s live services and Facebook posts clearly indicate that he operates his church within Kangemi Primary School compound.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha recently directed all schools heads not to allow any kind of political activities in the institutions.

Meanwhile Kangemi Primary School Head teacher has however not denied the existence of the church within school precincts but referred us to the Director of Education Westlands for response.

Westlands Education Director Rosa Kamau however declined to respond to the matter when reached out to.

“I wouldn’t respond to that over the phone please,’’ Kamau told Ghetto Radio News  on phone.
