Leadership wrangles at the Nairobi County Assembly continued today as the labour and relations court suspended Jacob Ngwele as the assembly clerk until a dispute surrounding the recruitment of the new clerk Edward Gichana is heard and determined.
According to the new orders deputy clerk who is currently in the office will take over from Ngwele and discharge his duties as Nairobi County clerk.
Pauline Akuku has now taken over as interim Clerk following interdiction of Adah Onyango on June 19th 2020.
‘‘In the meantime,Muvengei Jacob Ngwele to step aside until determination of the petition. The deputy currently in the office will take over the functions of the clerk until the petition is determined…’’ the orders read in part.
Ngwele and speaker Beatrice Elachi have been in a fierce battle over control of the assembly.
The battles between the two have proved a point of not being able to work together.
Meanwhile the security at assembly remains tight following the move by interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi declaring the place a crime scene.
