Voter John Njoroge Files First Presidential Petition


The first presidential petition seeking to challenge declaration of William Ruto as the fifth president of Kenya has been filed at the Supreme Court by a voter.

John Njoroge Kamau has filed the petition which has been received by Kasavuli Bernard, Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court who is currently processing it.

The petitioner has listed IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, President-elect William Ruto, Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as respondents.

Raila Odinga, Martha Karua and IEBC Commissioners Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi, Professor Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu are listed as interested parties.

Raila Odinga is also expected to file a petition to challenge the presidential elections.

A number of Azimio Leaders are currently at the Supreme Court waiting for their lawyers.
