Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been released on a cash bail of Ksh. 15 Million.
Waititu was arraigned before Justice Lawrence Mugambi was also given an array of conditions that determined his release.
Like many other national leaders facing corruption, Mugambi barred Waititu from accessing Kiambu County offices or witnesses.
“It is necessary to guard the risk of interfering with the witnesses in the case by imposing conditions,” said Mugambi.
Waititu was also asked to deposit his passports and other travelling documents to the court.
Waititu’s wife Susan Wangari was released on a cash bail of Ksh 5 Million.
The other county officers who were arraigned alongside Waititu and his wife were released on a cash bail of Ksh 1 Million each.
The case will be mentioned on 26th of August.
Governor Waititu and his wife were charged alongside eight other suspects with the embezzlement of over Ksh.588 million public funds in Kiambu County.
