Waititu Thrown Out Of Malindi Polling Station As MP Arrested Over Bribery Claims
Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu was thrown out of a polling station in Malindi during the by-election on Monday for allegedly forcing his way into it.
Waititu was taken out of the polling station after voters protested his presence at the station.
He was then taken to Malindi Police station where he wrote a statement. He was released on a free bond.
Mwea MP Peter Njuguna was assaulted at Kakiyuni polling station in the constituency over claims of voter bribery in the MP by-election.
Njuguna, who was serving as an observer, was accosted by hooligans incited by a local woman MP, said regional police boss Francis Wanjohi.
“The former legislator was not bribing voters as alleged,” Wanjohi said, adding a speedy investigation was launched.
Wanjohi wrote a statement at Malindi police station.
