The Safaricom Chapa Dimba North Eastern Region has concluded, with Wajir All Stars emerging as the champions in the boys’ category, defeating Lyon 04 FC 2-0 in the finals. Mohamud Adan and Mursal Abdinasir scored the decisive goals for Wajir All Stars.

The team will now represent the North Eastern region in the national finals scheduled for April at Kisumu’s Mamboleo Stadium.

Wajir Queens, without opponents at the regional level in the girls’ category, also earned a spot in the national finals.

Wajir All Stars and Wajir Queens, the respective champions, have each received KES. 250,000, and Lyon 04 FC, the runners-up, took home KES. 150,000 each. Additionally, the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, and Top Scorer were awarded KES. 30,000 each. The winning team and runners-up also received smartphones.

This edition of Safaricom Chapa Dimba featured 286 teams from the six counties in the North Eastern region, including Mandera, Garissa, and Wajir.

The tournament aims to provide a platform for scouts and coaches to discover new talent, establish feeder systems for Kenyan football leagues, and train 250 coaches. Targeting footballers aged between 16 and 20, the tournament is an important initiative for youth development in Kenyan football.

With the North Eastern Region completed, the focus now shifts to Nairobi, where eight teams are set to compete for the regional title in the upcoming Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament.
