Wanavokali Bag Two Nominations At The AFRIMA Awards

Kenya’s talented Acapella group Wanavokali has been nominated twice for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2022 set to go down from 8-11 December.

The group consisting of six members (Chepkorir ,Lena Gayah ,Mellah, Ricky Msannii ,Sam and Ythera) bagged two nominations for their song ‘What A Time’ under the category of Best African duo, group or band and ‘Reasons’ for Songwriter of the year written by Mordecai Mwini of H_art the band.

The voting process is underway online at afrima.org and the maximum number of votes to be cast per day is five as the process will be coming to a close on the 10th of December.

Wanavokali meaning “those with vocals” in Swahili started their musical journey as background vocalists for different artists in Kenya.

They officially came together during the 2018 Safaricom Twaweza Live and the group decided to share their passion for expressing art and stories through singing by forming the Acapella group that sings amazingly well.

Their debut in the music industry was through Nyashinski’s Malaika cover, which was well-received by fans and they have gradually risen from background singers to one of Kenya’s most celebrated and famous musicians.
