Wanyonyi Dismisses Poll That Ranked Him Third in Nairobi Gubernatorial Race
ODM gubernatorial hopeful Tim Wanyonyi has now trashed recent survey conducted by Mizani Africa that put Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry boss Richard Ngatia as most popular in the race with 29 percent.
Wanyonyi has described the survey that put him third behind UDAs’ Margret Wanjiru as unfortunate and does not reflect the true picture on the ground.
He says his competitors are doing all they can to malign and tint his political image just to portray him as the most weak candidate.
“Which method did this Mizani Africa use it’s unfortunate that our competitors are using their Money to sponsor polls just hoodwink Nairobians …we are aware of their tactics and am not bothered and if I may ask who knows Ngatia…I can assure you if you go to the ground you will be shocked,” Wanyonyi told Ghetto Radio News on phone.
He has also cautioned ODM top brass to prepare for party primaries and that he will not accept any boardroom decision to have him drop his bid.
“Am in this race till the end and I want to ask my party to let us square it in the ballot at primaries any boardroom negotiations wouldn’t be appropriate for now,” Tim added.
Ngatia is expected to officially launch his campaign in mid-February.
Mizani Africa Data Analyst John Benson defended the poll findings saying it was directly from the respondents.
“The data is credible and what must be also clear is that we get everything from the respondents. We don’t rely much on the aspirants,” he said.
“In Nairobi we interviewed 2500 respondents in all 17 sub-counties that is not a small number we have big firms doing 1200 respondents only countrywide.”
