Orange Democratic Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has endorsed Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi further dividing ODM leaders over who will fly the gubernatorial ticket for ODM.

ODM Nairobi County Chairman George Aladwa over the weekend while speaking at Embakasi West had made it clear that he does not support Wanyonyi’s candidature citing mistrust.

In his declaration Sifuna says the party will not rely on rumors and will only support candidates who have declared interest for the top county seat.

“We must first protect what we have in ODM the only person who has declared his interest is one Hon Tim Wanyonyi. He has delivered in Westlands and for the past years I have been ODM Secretary General no single disciplinary case has been reported to me against Wanyonyi. So we want to tell those leaders who are against his candidature to go slow and if they have any better person than Tim let the party know. To Luhya community in Nairobi please let us show love and protect our leaders,” Sifuna said.

Aladwa has threatened to whip out ODM county officials attending Wanyonyi’s meetings.

“He is telling us about being a governor and his brother recently declared interest for presidency, let him bring his brother to ODM… this time round we are very serious with  Baba’s  presidency,” Aladwa said.

Wanyonyi has promised to fix Nairobi and he is expected to roll out his campaigns county wide as he popularizes his bid.

‘‘I will transform the dream of owning a house by ordinary residents. As a city resident and having served as a councilor and now the MP for Westlands Constituency, I am confident I will deliver,” said Wanyonyi.

As the MP for Westlands, Wanyonyi has maintained a robust sponsorship program for the needy in schools, assisted women rise from poverty and introduced them to table banking, implemented ‘Miradi Mtaani’ for the youths.

“I am ready to be the next Governor of Nairobi as I will able to deliver what the Nairobi Citizens require,” declared Wanyonyi.
