Wayne Rooney leaving for China would be madness; insists Roy Keane

Manchester United striker Wayne

Reports have revealed that England and Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney is linked to a China move.

However, his former teammate Roy Keane has had his say on the matter at hand saying that it would be ‘madness’ if Wayne Rooney left Manchester United for China as the striker still has much to offer in Europe.

The Manchester United captain’s agent Paul Stretford was said to be  in China on Wednesday night to hold talks with Super League clubs Beijing Guoan, Tianjian Quanjian and Jiangsu Suning who are attempting to acquire Rooney’s signature before the  transfer window closes on Tuesday next week.

The former Red devils midfielder believes his former team-mate still has much to offer in Europe other than moving to Asia. Rooney has featured in less matches in this year’s campaign since Jose Mourinho took charge as the club’s manager.

Speaking as a pundit on ITV, Keane said: “There is no way Wayne Rooney should be going to China, he can still play football at the top level in England, Germany, Spain or Italy” .

However, the striker recently broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s goal scoring record becoming the all time goal score for the club with 250 goals.Rooney  was brought to the theater of dreams by the retired manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2004 from Everton as a teenager and he has had brighter days at the club for the last few seasons.

Since 2004,he has managed to win five premier league titles with the club.Rooney has one Uefa Champions League title once under Alex Ferguson, the Fifa Club World Cup winner once,he is also an FA Community shield winner for four times. The skipper has won FA cup once and the Football League Cup twice.

The England and Manchester United captain is somehow a decorated player perhaps being the reason why Keane rubbishes his move to China Super League.
