A section of Residents of Gatundu south gathered to publicly apologize to former President Uhuru Kenyatta for not listening to his advice regarding last year’s general election.
The event took place today as they celebrated the 62nd birthday of the former head of state.
Speaking at a press conference held during the birthday celebrations at Gatundu Market, residents expressed regret for not supporting Uhuru Kenyatta’s preferred candidate, opposition leader Raila Odinga, in the presidential elections.
“Tunaona tulimkosea juu tulienda na wave…tunajua alikasirika…tunaomba atusamehe tusonge mbele pamoja,” A Gatundu resident said.
‘Alichukua watoto wetu akapeleka kazi,saa hii watoto hawaendi kazi hatuwapei chakula… sasa tuko na shida” she added

Gatundu residents were misled
President Uhuru Kenyatta was openly supporting Raila Odinga, while his opponents, led by current Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, rallied behind William Ruto, who ultimately emerged as the winner of the presidential race.
“Tunasherekea leo watu wa gatundu juu mungu amemuezesha kufikisha miaka 62,”another resident said.
“Ametujengea mabarabara,hospitali, University,soko hii tuko, tukasema tumpatie birthday kama nyumba moja ya gatundu south, “
President Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta clashed over the election, with Ruto accusing his former boss of betrayal, and the former president opposing Ruto’s candidacy by questioning his presidential suitability.
Gatundu south which is in the Mt Kenya region overwhelmingly supported William Ruto while uhuru Kenyatta who also hails in the region supported Raila Odinga instead. This move by central Kenya left the former president disappointed

The community extended their gratitude to the former president for the significant developments brought to the region during his tenure, including infrastructure improvements like roads, markets, hospitals, and universities.
They expressed their unwavering support and appreciation for these achievements.
