We Gate Crushed At Weddings For Food, Skysquad Dance Crew

Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, that’s the best statement that can be used to define Laikipia based Skysquad dance crew tumultuous journey to stardom.

Made up of 12 dancers from different dance crew’s within Nanyuki town namely Skillaz, Tallis and Gazlas. The group has overcome a myriad of hardships from   lacking house rent, costumes, food, resorting to gate crushing at weddings and parties to staging free shows in order to be offered something to eat.

They point out lack of proper support as entertainment stakeholders in the town are yet to fully embrace dancing as a way of earning a decent living. In addition, traveling for gigs and competitions has been a tall order due to lack of facilitation fees, they’ve had to take up menial jobs at construction sites to boost their earnings.

Unapata ukienda hizo competition ni za one week hatuna place ya kulala, food na transport inabidi tunatafuta at least mjengo ndio tufanye,” they added.
