More than one week after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered for  the resumption of work at the Dandora Stadium the contractor is yet to resume.

Nairobi Sports County Executive Committee Member Jannet Muthoni Ouko says that they are still engaging him so that he can finish the stadium but as per the contract.

“In professional terms nobody can be able to pay for the steel structure until such a time we will be guided by procurement authority and EACC. There is a burden that the contractor has to carry because according to the contract we needed concrete not steel and please give the Dandora community a concrete stadium,” Ouko said.

She has called on contractor to obey the contract terms and deliver the stadium in shortest time possible.

“We have talked with the contractor he promised that within a month the stadium will be ready but I want to assure him we shall not pay for a steel stadium,” she added.

The Contractor M/s Scanjet Construction Limited left the site in September 2019.

The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority received complains that the Scanjet Construction was using steel structures in contravention of the contract.

There were also allegations of inflation of costs from 250 million shillings to 350 million shillings.
