We Want Nairobi Governor’s Ticket, Luhya Leaders Tell ODM

0 260

A section of Luhya leaders now want ODM boss Raila Odinga to preserve Nairobi gubernatorial seat for the Luhya community.

Led by Faustine Imbala the Luhya leaders community should also be recognized in top positions and that they have been supporting governors in Nairobi all along.

They say the time has come for Luhya to steer Nairobi and they will not relent in their quest.

“Luhyas must be respected and we want to tell ODM leadership led by Hon Raila Odinga that he must support a Luhya governor in Nairobi…the same must be done by COTU boss Francis Atwoli. He must tell Raila that Luhyas are tired of being political machines we must have our share this time round,” said Imbala.

“We had Philip Kisia in 2013 they fought him and he bowed out ….going forward Mulembe Nation must be respected and the only way to do that is to support  Luhyas candidature and that’s our request to entire ODM team,” John Maiyo said.

They have also called on Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa to seek his gubernatorial candidature without attacking Hon Tim Wanyonyi.

Mr Wanyonyi, is the only ODM Leader who has officially declared interest to run for the City’s coveted seat in the 2022 elections.

The team says Aladwa does not hold the ‘monopoly of being a Luhya and should restrain from the seat.

“We have a free democratic space and you can not measure up Aladwa with Wanyonyi, Tim has done well in his Westlands constituency and insults  against him is unfair and Aladwa musts stop forthwith,’’ they added.
