Kenyan Sheng Masters and Kisima Award winners 2020 for Best Pan African Group Mbogi Genje comprising of Smaddy Tingz, Guzzman and Militan have declared their supremacy on the Sheng lingua.
Through an exclusive interview on Thursday’s Ghetto Radio mid morning show ‘Niaje Niaje’ with Shide the ‘Ngumi Mbwegze’ trio disclosed that rival eastlands rap group Gota City led by Madocho Wa Kanairo snatched the opportunity in picking up beef so as to get mainstream while riding on Mbogi Genje’s success.
“Unajua sisi kama MG(Mbogi Genje) hii game tuliingia kivyetu na hatujawahi kuwa na grudge na mtu lakini saa hii venye game iko, MG ndio iko top, na unajua mtu ako top lazima watu wengi watataka kutumia jina yako ku rise,” said Smaddy.
Fellow group member Guzzman thrashed the Gota City Clique as mere attention seekers.
“Hao ni watu wa kuride along,” stated Guzzman.
Cult Like Following
Barely a year and a half into the music scene, the group boasts of a crazy following. Their debut track ‘Ngumi Mbwegze’ released a year ago currently is at 2.3 million views and still counting.
“Mbogi Genje si ndio Mbogi Genje tunasaka picha ya Kenyatta kwa walenje, Mbogi Genje si ndio Mbogi Genje tunataka picha ya Kenyatta kwa walenje” Is part of the chorus which loosely translates to making it big and getting out of the block.Looking back it’s like a dream come true having made enormous inroads in the musical world.
Group member Militan,revealed being a Kenyan born Sudanese, he further downplayed being a soldier.
Collaboration With Khaligraph
They’re currently riding high with their latest release ‘Warena’ featuring hip hop heavyweight Khaligraph Jones with 753k views in 2 weeks ,the trio affirm their dominance due to their stinging lyrics.
