Westlands member of Parliament aspirants have protested ODM’s move to suspend Westlands Parliamentary primaries and issue a direct ticket to Tim Wanyonyi.
The aspirants Led by Sonia Birdi say the move is undemocratic and that the ODM National Elections Board did not consult the aspirants before suspending the exercise.
The Azimio sealed a deal that saw Polycarp Igathe take the mantle as Nairobi gubernatorial flagbearer, Edwin Sifuna senatorial seat while Tim going back for his current Westlands seat.
“Am devasted it’s a total mess, our supporters were here as early as 5 am just to vote for little did we know that there is a prepared certificate for someone somewhere…ODM is killing democracy and this kind of shenanigans should be not be allowed.. am a sad woman today….We love Baba but we shall not allow search theatrics to continue in our party,” Birdi told Ghetto Radio News.
A section of Westlands residents have on the other hand have welcomed Tim’s return to Westlands seat terming it the best political move after he was denied the ticket.
“We know his capabilities, he has been rejected by Azimio bosses but we want to assure them that we shall accept him back ..Westlands is his bedroom and he has done well in steering development in this area,” Wesonga Kangemi resident said.
