The Building Bridges Initiative report presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday will see whistle blowers of corruption rewarded.
The report recommends that the whistle blowers rewarded with five percent of the recovered proceeds in a beef up the fight against corruption.
Apart from rewarding the whistle blowers, the report also recommends their protection.
“We should encourage court procedures that guarantee the protection of the safety and security of informants, whistle blowers and witnesses, particularly regarding terrorism, serious transnational crimes and corruption,” reads the report.
The report further recommends that civil servants be barred from doing business with the government.
The report also recommends that the ethics function be taken away from the anti-corruption commission to enable it concentrate on economic crimes.
Allowing the media to expose corruption cartels in public service without fear of libel and defamation and strengthening the Controller Of Budget’s office are some of the recommendations made in the BBI to strengthen fight against corruption.
