The County government will now get shillings 321 billion this financial year if senators and MPs adopt a resolution of the Treasury, Council of Governors and the speakers of the two houses .
Acting Treasury CS Ukur Yatani, Council of Governors chairman Wycliffe Oparanya ,senate speaker Ken Lusaka and Justin Muturi speaker National Assembly agreed on the amount to end the prolonged standoff over the Division of Revenue Bill, 2019.
The deal was reached a day before a mediation team appointed by the Senate and the National Assembly to resolve the impasse meets today.
This comes hours before the mediation team from both the national assembly and senate begin talks to resolve the prolonged stalemate that’s has plunge counties into financial crisis.
Speakers of both houses,CoG and treasury have been meeting frequently to solve the matter.
President Uhuru Kenyatta have been firm on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2019 saying his government has no more additional cash for the devolved units.
‘‘Lets share what we have and do development but is not proper for us to argue and demand for that’s is not there .’’ President said last week.
Both Houses are now expected to pass the 321 billion proposal bill before treasury releases funds to the county.
