Sources reveal that the club’s shutdown is as a result of a protracted dispute between Club owner Wilson Kanani and the landlord though much details were not given.
The popular club in Langata faced closure as police manned the place.
Club to be reopened
Wilson Kanani, a City Hall staffer and the club owner, has been at logger heads with the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) as he has been accused of amassing assets worth 643 million shillings on a modest salary of 55,000 shillings.
Four months ago, an Anti-corruption court froze Kanani’s assets following a plea by the EACC.
According to court documents, although the employee earned a net monthly salary of Sh55,000, he received and channeled Ksh.506 million through bank accounts held in his name and family members between January 2016 and October 2022.

Despite the closure, optimistic insiders at the club hint at a possible relocation and reopening soon.
Club 1824 faced closure in 2022 during a police crackdown on venues playing loud music past 10 pm. The establishment also shut its doors in 2020 due to violations of COVID-19 regulations.
