Why crime rate has gone down in Nairobi’s Eastlands

The rate of crime in Nairobi’s Eastlands area has largely improved, this is according to Buruburu OCPD Adamson Bungei.

Bungei says they have reported few or no crime incidents at all in the past few weeks.

He says that this has largely been attributed to by the good relationship the police covering Buruburu area have formed with the community members.

” We have forged a good relationship with the area residents. We have created an environment where community members are free to talk to us without fear of victimisation,” said Bungei.

He says the organisation of the police officers according to their skills and the digitisation of police services have also attributed to the low crime rate.

“Apart from just having a good relationship with the community members, we also assign police officers areas of operation based on their skills to handle various issues as opposed to just placing them randomly,” said Bungei.

“This coupled with the government’s initiative to digitise services in the Police Service have made work easy,” he stated.

Buruburu area covers the vast areas of Dandora, donholm, Shauri Moyo and even Umoja areas.
