Mejia reveals why he doesn’t charge collabos

High flying Genge artist and arguably the current King of Collabo’s Mejja Okwonkwo – Mtoto wa Khadija has stated that he doesn’t just offer Collabo’s but only to deserving cases.
Speaking to Lynn of Tuko the Jana Kuliendaje Star remembered those who held his hand as he worked his way to the top.
Before he rose to Stardom Mejja used to peddle ground nuts, coffee and would occasionally get errands of mounting event posters.
“Nimeuza kahawa chungu,njugu ya kushkisha ile imetolewa maganda na pia nilikuwa nabandika posters… Nilikuwa msanii wa base ule hana kitu,” he said.
Brought up by a single mother Mejja admitted that it was not easy growing up, at some point he was mocked for his bulging weight and the use of his mother’s name – Khadija as his surname.
He up to date thanks Eve D’Souza, DJ John and Clemo as people who played a great role in moulding him into the Star he is today.
Mejja also recounted how a gospel artist he wanted to work with on a collabo demanded a hefty pay which was out of his reach, it was that moment that gave him an awakening to always stand up and help someone when need arose.

He also went ahead and rubbished those fighting the Gengetone vibe and reminded them that it was a sound for the masses and is here to stay.
“Genge ni mziki wa umati,ata Juacali siku ya kwanza aliniambia hivo,na Genge ni direct kama wewe ni mtaro tunadive, tunadive si lazima nishinde apo ati joh ohh unaelewa,” he added.
The artist who is co parenting in raising his three children disclosed his upcoming release that features Uko o flani maumau’s wing Mashifta – Kitu Sewer famed for the ‘Pesa, Pombe,Siasa na Wanawake hit and Mombasa based Hip hop Rapper Kaa La Moto, who won the best male hip hop artist of the year 2020.
The artist who appeared on the interview set with his trademark’ tumbler ‘has received overwhelming messages from netizens.
