Former Mungiki leader turned preacher Ndura Waruinge  now says he is working around the clock to touch souls and bring back hope to those in crime.

We found him at his new church headquarters Coffee Plaza where he  reiterated his call in Christianity and reason behind the same.

How It Started

Waruinge was born in Kericho County where he stayed with his parents at a tea farm. When his father retired they resettled at Molo before making his way to Nairobi for a better life.

“Initially I wanted to be a soldier  that being my dream my parents sold goats to raise 15000  shillings which we used to bribe the person connecting me to the job. Unfortunately when I came to Nairobi the guy disappeared and that’s how I ended up in street. I stayed in streets and later became a gangster. I later joined  the outlawed Mungiki Sect.” Waruinge narrated.

Life to Christ

After rubbing shoulder with the authorities over  Mungiki link,Waruinge chose a new path, got saved and started preaching.

He initially had a church at City Stadium before relocating to Coffee Plaza.

“I have a church and as you can see  am new here but we do hope that many will join us. My vision is to ensure that those in drugs and crime are cleansed so that they can do something meaningful with their lives.” He added.

Kibra Crusade

“This coming Easter We shall be having a mega crusade in Kibra with our intention directed to those who are still in drugs, bad company and criminal gangs we shall worship together, exchange ideas and make sure we are all healed.” Apostle Waruinge said.
