Viwandani residents are now calling on the top county police bosses to deal with drug barons in the area saying the area has been manifested by peddlers who have now taken advantage of vulnerable youths selling drugs to them.
The notorious drugs include narcotics products bhang and illicit brew.
According to the residents this month alone they have lost two people all have died from illicit brews with main suppliers being a woman identified as “Mwende” and another main supplier who is yet to be identified.
“It is something that need a quick address right from security personnel to community level. Despite several warnings by the authority this has remained a major problem because it is not collectively fought. Common brewer in this place is Mwende and another peddler who is well connected and he is the main supplier. We have written petitions to that effect and actions is not yet taken.Our youths have been consumed and we are asking both level of government to help us addresses this drug menace.” Concerned resident told Ghetto Radio News.
“We must change strategy and this peddlers must be dealt with accordingly we know they have been bribing senior police officers in Makadara sub county.This must stop and this perpetrators must be brought to book.” Another resident told Ghetto Radio News.
Ban on Alcoholism
Government Ban on Second generation alcohol is intact with Cabinet Secretary for Security Kithure Kindiki stating that the fight is irreversible.
“The measures announced by the Government last week on eradication of illicit liquor and narcotic drugs are irreversible and non-negotiable, the uptake of harmful alcoholic drinks that are not up to standards and narcotic drugs is a serious national problem. Losing 20 people in one village to poisonous alcoholic drinks is equivalent to a terror attack.” he said.
