Woman Defies Odds, Takes Up Seawage Job To Make Ends Meet


seawageA woman in Nairobi’s Kiamaiko Slums has defied all the odds and taken up the job of unclogging blocked seawages in order to earn a living.

Virginia Wanjiru a mother of four says she has been doing the job for three years now to earn her daily bread and pay her children’s school fees.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio News Wanjiru says she and five other girls have taken up the job and are doing it passionately irregardles of the dirt that comes with it.

She however says that the job has come with its fair share of challenges as one of them recently died while at work after she got overwhelmed by the gas inside the seawage and died.
