A woman on Tuesday gave birth aboard Madaraka Express train which was headed to Mombasa.

A communique from the Passenger Train Service says that the pregnant woman was helped by a doctor identified as Dr. Indanyenyi Luseso who was aboard the train.

The doctor was assisted by a Nurse from the Kenyatta National Hospital identified as Fauziya Lugogo.

“We are delighted to share a heartwarming story of a mother who welcomed her bundle of joy on board the Madaraka Express Passenger Service train to Mombasa.

“We were blessed to have Dr. Indanyenyi Luseso onboard who performed the delivery, assisted by Ms. Fauziya Lugogo, a Nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital and our Madaraka Express Passenger Attendant, Ms. Mary Nyiha,” the statement from Madaraka Express reads.

The mother was then rushed to the Mariakani Subcounty Hospital for medical assistance.

“Both the mother and the baby are okay. We wish her well,” the statement reads.
