Five police officers have recorded statements over the killing of a woman at City Park on Saturday morning.

The officers recorded their statements with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation at Gigiri police headquarters.

They are William Chirchir of Lunga Lunga AP post, Godfrey Kirui of Industrial Area police station, and Christine Manga of Makadara AP headquarters.

Others are Embakasi Police station’s Kenneth Kirui and Bramwel Adala.

The five are linked to the killing of Janet Waiyaki, 41. The woman was caught with her nephew-cum-lover 26 year old Bernard Chege.

Chege, who is recuperating at Avenue Hospital, and the woman were both found half-naked after the shooting.

Chege, a university student, had driven into the park in the company of his aunt in his mother’s car.

They parked in a bushy area at around at 8am. A city askari called police shortly before 10am on suspicion the two were up to no good.

The ‘secret lovers’ declined to open the car’s tinted windows for the police and later attempted to speed off prompting the shooting.
