Embakasi Central youths have been urged to collect their national Identity cards lying at the chief’s office to enable them register as voters in the second phase of mass voter registration exercise.
Kayole Central Senior Chief John Mogire says that huge number of uncollected IDs lying in his office is worrying.
Mogire says that by picking their ID cards, the youths will be able to register as voters and eventually exercise their democratic rights to vote.
“We urge our youths to come and collect their national identity cards from our office so that their voices are heard in the forthcoming general elections, it is their democratic right and no one will deprive them of that,” said Mogire.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is set to kick off the second phase of mass voter registration exercise next week on Monday.
“National elections are not only for election but, we must make it clear that having an ID cards will enable youths to get government empowerment opportunities like kazi mtaani , opening bank accounts among others,” Mogire added.
