The youth in Kenya have been urged to vie for elective seats in the forth coming General Elections.
Allan Oremo a young aspirant vying for the Embakasi Ward seat in Embakasi East Constituency says that it is about time the youth took up the political positions to enable them articulate issues affecting them better.
Oremo specifically challenged the ODM Party to conduct a free and fair nominations exercise ahead of the forth coming elections.
“I have had talks with the party secretary Edwin Sifuna and as a fellow young man, he has promised to oversee a free and fair nominations exercise,” says Oremo.
Oremo says that he has been a member of the ODM Party for more than 10 years and has even take a life membership card.
“I believe ODM is a very democratic party. That is why I have come here to take my life membership card and to also urge the party to conduct the nominations democratically,” he says.
All parties are supposed to conduct their nominations by March next year to determine the candidates for the 2022 elections. ODM has year in year out been plagued by malpractices while conducting nominations with many candidates alleging corruption and highhandedness.
