A Nairobi bred professional cyclist has launched an initiative to distribute books worth millions of shillings to public primary schools learners in the rural area.
Walter Omondi, born and bred in Nairobi’s Ziwani area says that his organization dubbed has partnered with various stakeholders to conduct the initiative.
The donation distributed through Spinking kicked off December last year has so far reached out to four schools in Siaya County.
“We cannot have exact figures, we have donated books with market value of up to a million and we expect to enhance it as we move forward. Last quarter, we were in Siaya County where we gave our donation to Yogo primary school, Simera, Kowet and Manyala primary schools,” said Omondi.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio scribe, Omondi revealed that he has so far reached close to 3700 pupils and was hoping to reach many more after the end of her countrywide books distribution drive.
He said that initiative was precipitated by the predicaments faced by many Kenyan families after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
