Ziwani Residents On The Spot Over Refusal To Pay Garbage Fee, Public Hot Shower

A section of Ziwani residents have been put on the spot over their refusal to pay garbage fee and hot shower fee at the public toilet.

Garbage collectors in Ziwani say that this has resulted into the spillage of garbage and sewer water on roads in the estate.

According to the collectors, house owners who have built extensions are taking advantage of their long stay in the area and are refusing to pay garbage fee.

“Our biggest hurdles in garbage collection in Ziwani are the house owners. They are not paying garbage fee and yet they even own extensions,” said Isaac Mandela one of the garbage collectors.

“Some of them are like our fathers, so we are having trouble to even ask them for Ksh. 30 for garbage because they don’t want to pay,” said Mandela.

The residents claim that one of them even built a hot shower at the public toilet and they still don’t want to pay for the hot shower.

“This has resulted to the poor maintenance of the toilet because they want to shower in the hot shower for free and not pay anything,” he said.

The garbage menace has led to a blockage of drainage sytems in Ziwani causing spillage of waste water.
