According to Eric Omondi, he helped Ojwang’s family to raise about 10M, which he had also projected earlier.
Additionally, Eric shared his disappointment with Ojwang’s family for accepting a token from the head of state. This was taken in bad light—an attempt to impede justice.

However, Ojwang’s family claimed that Eric told them the figure is 2M.
Team Hanifa Displeasure
Furthermore, Eric drowned deeper into controversy, pitying Team Hamifa, a popular activist and internet personality who claimed Eric was the source of the family’s tribulations.
Eric was not only accused of inviting scammers by kicking off Ojwang’s fundraising drive through the family’s phone numbers, which are prone to phishing and scamming, but also of creating a pay bill with him as the sole administrator, further creating room for speculation.
Ojwang’s family is said to have lost about 1M from hunger-stricken, tech-savvy chaps.
“Kumbe what he did akawakoroga wakafungua account yenye only yeye ana access, Omondi the second pay bill yenye Eric Omondi alifunguanga yenye alipos coz alikataa kupost yetu…Kumbe alidanganya public at mama ya Albert na bibi ya Albert have access to it, they don’t have access to it…the actual numbers anaambia family ako nazo ni 2M” claimed the source partly.
Additionally, Hanifa’s team revealed that initially they had set the first pay bill with the details of Ojwang’s uncle but later changed it to Ojwang’s family.
Subsequently, Hanifa’s team accused Eric of slowing the fundraising process, with the public thrown into confusion due to the separate pay bill numbers.
On the other hand, Ojwang’s family was hit with a double tragedy on the day he was announced killed.

When Ojwang’s father relayed the news of his death back at home, his grandmother collapsed and died, and she has since been buried.
