The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has indeed made significant amendments to its electoral code during a Special General Meeting (SGM) held in Nairobi on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
The key change in the 2020 electoral code now requires presidential candidates to have been actively involved in football matters for the last two years, a reduction from the previous three-year requirement.
This adjustment aims to broaden the pool of eligible candidates for the FKF presidency, reflecting a move towards more inclusive governance.
The SGM saw the attendance of 89 delegates, including representatives from various FKF branches and leagues.
Key decisions included adopting the National Executive Committee’s resolutions, the newly composed Electoral Board, and the amended 2019/2020 Electoral Code.
The Electoral Board members—Hesbon Owilla, James Waindi, Alfred Ngang’a, Dan Mule, Marceline Sande, and standby members Farida Lucia Juma and Robert Akumu Asembo—will now oversee the upcoming elections.
These reforms are part of a broader effort to refine governance structures within the federation and ensure a more effective electoral process moving forward.
