Lang’ata Member of Parliament Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o has now come out to say that he opposes the Finance Bill 2024 despite calls from President William Ruto to support the bill.

Speaking in parliament, Jalang’o said that the reason why he decoded to oppose the bill is because the bill had touched on various issues affecting the youth and who were demonstrating nationally.

He intimated that due the protests he could not let the youth down.

“Immediately it touched everything that touches the normal person- M Pesa, cars, the pads and I looked back and saw the whole generation in Lang’ata out here having their voices so loud even after the amendments, I had to make the choice that I have made today,” he said

Passaris opposes Bill

He also opened up that should he support the bill then the youth would hold him accountable.

“Now, out here is the Gen Z generation whom I talk to every day and interact with them on X, and Tiktok, and when most of you will be gone back to the villages we will be with here in Nairobi. The questions will still be there,”

The youth from across Kenya referred to Gen Z took to the streets on Thursday calling for the total rejection of the bill terming it unfriendly.

Nairobi woman Representative Esther Passaris also opposed the bill.

“Much as I commend public participation and amendments that were done on the fiancé bill, I reject it because we need to ensure that we listen to the population and what they are saying,’
