The Kenya U17 national team is on the brink of making history as they strive to qualify for the Women’s World Cup.

The Junior Starlets are set to face Burundi in the return leg of the qualifiers, having secured a commanding 3-0 victory in the first leg played on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Ethiopia.

Burundi arrived in Kenya today, ahead of the crucial second leg match scheduled for Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

In the first leg, Kenya’s girls displayed determination and skill, with Lorna Faith breaking the deadlock in the 11th minute.

Marion Serenge doubled the lead just before halftime, scoring in the 43rd minute. The Junior Starlets continued their dominance in the second half, with Susan Akoth adding a third goal in the 71st minute, securing a vital away win.

With a 3-0 lead, the Junior Starlets are just 90 minutes away from qualifying for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
