Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has lifted the suspension of matatus on the Nairobi Expressway.
Murkomen says that the move is aimed at boosting transport efficiency in the country.
“This decision is in line with the government’s focus on making Kenya a global leader in the provision of transport and logistics a key driver of sustainable economic development,”
Murkomen made the statement just a day after chaos rocked Mombasa Road and the Expressway during the anti-government protests.
The protests had been called by opposition leaders Raila Odinga.
The Matatu ban on the expressway had been effected in July 2022 after several accidents had been reported on the expressway.
In one of the accidents, an Embassava matatu had hit the Mlolongo toll station.
