Politician Miguna Miguna has expressed interest in the Director of Public Prosecutions seat that is currently empty.

Miguna in his Twitter handle announced that he has applied for the seat that was left vacant following the appointment of Nordin Haji top NIS.

“For the avoidance of any doubt, YES, I have applied for the position of The Director of Public Prosecutions. Cheers,” said Miguna.

The process of recruiting a new DPP commenced when President William Ruto created a seven member committee to recruit the next DPP.

Central Organisation of Trade Union boss Francis Atwoli is part of the seven-member selection committee.

The committee also includes Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak.

Other members include Mary Kimonye, Shadrack Mose, Roseline Odede, Richard Obwocha, and Mary Adhiambo.

The committee members are expected to recruit and recommend the names of suitable candidates to the President for appointment.

The president then nominates one person and sends the name to the National Assembly for vetting, if approved the nominee is appointed by the head of state.
