Anti-government protests staged by the Azimio la Umoja in different parts of the country have paralysed normalcy in several major towns in the country.
In photos from, Kisumu, Nyeri, Machakos, Kirinyaga and Nanyuki several matatu termini remained deserted as stakeholders did not release the vehicle for business for fear of potential risk.
Some matatu operators engaged in mock football, volleyball and rope skipping games in protests.
An armature video captured in Kisii town showed protestors lining up in a mock funeral procession, chanting dirges with casket model bearing the image of the president William Ruto.
“Tumechoka, we are tired, Ruto must go…bei ya unga, unga na kila kitu imepanda serikali itaua wakenya na ushuru ya juu,” protestors chanted.
Although Nairobi CBD remained unusually quiet for the better part of the day, Kamukunji grounds remained a battle field as protestors tried to engage the police in rough battle as they tried to gain entry into the historic ground.
